Sudden Oak Death  - It is unlikely that this disease (Phytophthora ramorum) is present in Rogers County-however it is worth learning a little about – as it is a huge problem on the west coast-and nursery stock is probably the way it will be spread into Oklahoma. Our lawn is now having brown patches all over the place. We’ve never had this before. The grass is dying , We are concerned because it seems to be spreading. Any idea of what it could be? Thank you

What kind of grass is it? Are you watering? If so, how often? Have you used any fertilizer or pesticides on the lawn? If so, when and what?

This is my first year to grow Canna’s. I’ve read that I need to dig them up for the winter but I’ve also read that depending on USDA Zones that I may be able to cover with a heavy layer of mulch. Given our location does anyone have any experience or thoughts with one method or the other?

      Mona,
Yes. Please look on the website under Gardening Resources, scroll down to Soil Testing and follow the instructions. The OSU site for Rogers County is located on the second floor of the Rogers County Courthouse off Hwy 66. They have a soil probe you can check out if you need one to gather your samples.
